Starting From Scraps

Starting From Scraps

We had some much fun learning how to replant vegetable scraps that would otherwise be turned into waste. The workshop included replanting herbs, such as cilantro, as well as root vegetables that can grow all year round, such as carrots.

By the end of this workshop, our participants were able to bring home their own indoor garden!

This event was in collaboration with Good Food Initiative.

Food Solutions Challenge

Food Solutions Challenge

Food loss, meaning food wasted before it reaches a consumer, accounts for 64% of all edible food that is lost. When food is wasted at the farm, in harvesting, in production, and in transportation, we lose both edible food and also the climate-changing environmental resources that went into producing it.

We had an informative and engaging seminar learning about how we can combat this issue of food loss, while engaging in solution-building! For those who took part in submitting a potential solution has a chance to win and incubate their ideas in San Fransisco, CA in the spring of 2018.

Those who missed this food solutions challenge seminar can attend the one at U of T!
